IRS Economic Impact Payments
The IRS began sending out the early rounds of economic impact payments on April 11th via direct deposit. For most eligible taxpayers who filed returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees, payments are automatic and no action is required.
The IRS plans to send a letter to the taxpayer’s last known address within 15 days after the payment is made. The letter tells how the payment was made and how to report any failure to receive the payment.
In mid-April, IRS.gov will have a “Get My Payment” online application so you can check your payment status, confirm payment type of direct deposit or check, and enter direct deposit bank account information if it is not already on file.
